The sale of arms across borders in the face of international law, puts civilian populations, oppressed by violence, dictators and uncontrolled militia, on the front line. In the face of this global industry, NGOs work to force the United Nations to ratify a treaty which prohibits the exportation of arms to regimes guilty of large scale violation of human rights.
