Antonio Ricci finds a job putting up posters. However, the job is on condition that he owns a bicycle. He sells his few possessions in order to acquire one, but it then gets stolen. He leaves to go and look for the thief and discovers a man who is even poorer than he is. He abandons his pursuits and leaves to steal a bicycle himself. A commerical and critical success and an iconic film in the neo realist genre.
