The Tangier Cinematheque is hiring a new Director !
The Cinematheque de Tanger is seeking a dynamic, experienced cinephile and culture leader
to join us as Director to guide this beloved film center forward in our 15th year.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Director will be responsible for the strategic direction
of the Cinematheque and will bring their own distinctive vision to our robust programming
tradition.
In the footsteps of the founding director and recent leaders, the new director will inspire our
audience and team; insure the financial stability of this non-profit and profitability of; and be
the face of the Cinematheque’s presence in Tangier, Morocco, and the world.
Housed in the legendary Cinema Rif, and founded as an artist-run non profit organization,
North Africa foremost cinema cultural center stands in the historic heart of Tangier, the
Grand Socco plaza.
Internationally admired, the CdT lies at the cosmopolitan cinematic crossroads of Africa, the
Arab world, and European and global culture. Our programming compares favorably to the
world foremost art houses.
The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in public-facing cultural leadership and
business acumen, notably in making our well-loved cafe into a revenue center.
He will fuse creative and strategic thinking with a commitment to the ideal that cinema is part of our shared human right to access storytelling and culture – from classic movies to experimental shorts and documentaries, to blockbuster feature films.
